Yesterday I had the awesome opportunity to attend Courtney Putnam's Abundance box workshop. I found Courtney through her blog. I was really intrigued and inspired to see that she had me as a link on her artistic blog list. Once I saw that she lived in Seattle and was having a workshop, I just had to attend. I really liked the idea of an abundance box and the timing was right for me to explore my future goals. Courtney is a wonderful teacher and mentor. She is quiet and gentle. She encourages you to go where you feel led or where you feel comfortable. She is eager to share when we asked questions and I learned things about essential oils and other things I didn't know. It was a very pleasant time and I had the opportunity to meet a few new wonderful and very creative people.
Meeting Courtney was a breath of fresh air and a treat. NOW Courtney's ART. FANTASTIC, BREATH TAKING. I really liked it on-line but in person!! Framed. I seriously was in awe all afternoon. I couldn't stop admiring her work. Courtney just had a show in her home so her pieces were hung gallery style around her home and massage studio. They were all so fabulous but there is one that caught my attention and is still very alive in me today. This painting and here are a few more that kept me returning to take a look My husband plays the guitar, so this one really stuck with me. The colors are very vibrant and soothing in person. This one was downstairs and she had wonderful postcards made of it. And this one is really cool too. Unfortunately you can't see the texture and depth of these pieces over the internet. If you live in Seattle or plan on visiting, I highly suggest you see if you can give Courtney a visit.
Here's one of the boxes I made. I am working on another one that is about half of the way done. This is the first thing I have started somewhere and then finished it. It is also the first time I have really made something for myself. Ahhhh....speaking of making things. I have some Christmas presents to finish....
I recently made this booklace necklace for a neighbor of mine. She's been coming to help me with my housework. This is a real big thing for me because of some "issues" I have. (don't ya just love issues) anyway, a few weeks ago I told her I'd have to take a break because my wonderful hubby doesn't get very many hours during the winter. She said she would like to come anyway because she can see how it makes me feel better. I know this is probably way to much information but I think people like Dawn who reach out and touch others need to be heard about more often. So once again, Dawn, thank you so much for your help. I gave her the book just after I took pictures. As my usual picture taking these aren't great. ....someday... ;)
This post is ssooo past due. I am involved in a secret Santa swap with MMCA . I received my package from my secret Santa a couple of weeks ago. A beautiful box filled with wonderful goodies. A lot of the goodies you can get from my secret Santa, Mandy's web-site. She has wonderful pieces for your collage needs. Please take the time to check out her website. One of the coolest things was a card she made with a fairy trapped inside. The fairy is a picture of my granddaughter. I took it to my daughters recently to show her and accidentally left it there but LOOK at all of the goodies.
see all the awesome goodies I get to create with!! The heart is a metal heart ornament. I will hang it all year long. It's really cool. Again, I have three other pieces she made personally for me but in my joy of sharing and showing them to others, I accidentally left them behind. Thanks so much Mandy. You really started the Christmas season for me!
On Wednesday I had a workshop here in my home with 13 students ages 9-13. I also had great helpers. Thank you SO much Barbara, Bev and Charla. Without them I would have been a crazy woman. We made our own papers to use in collage, cards etc. I enjoy working with the kids so much. They bring me great joy. Click on picture to see it larger.
